Event Details:
The Stanford Natural Gas Initiative Annual Meeting brings together a range of external stakeholders and the Stanford community to hear from leading researchers and thought leaders and to discuss a range of important topics related to natural gas production and use and the associated environmental, social, and economic benefits and costs. The 2018 meeting will feature speakers and panelists from Stanford, NGI member companies, and invited guests and is the best venue to see the range of current research about natural gas at Stanford.
Planned topics include
Methane emissions
New research on global methane emissions, detection effectiveness, effective management of upstream emissions and more; key speakers include Adam Brandt and Rob Jackson
Unconventional reservoir management and recovery factors
With a focus on unconventional reservoir geomechanics, subsurface uncertainty, and shale reservoir development and optimization; key speakers include Mark Zoback, Tony Kovscek, and Jef Caers
New natural gas technologies
Ranging from membranes to micro-electrochemical sensors; key speakers include Yan Xia, Tom Jaramillo, and Full Moon Sensors.
Lifecycle assessment of natural gas
Including a major new assessment of North American natural gas exported to Asia for power generation and industrial heating; key speaker is Adam Brandt
Distributed energy generation, storage, and mini-grids
Methane conversion
New approaches for converting methane to liquid fuels and other chemicals; key speakers include Tom Jaramillo, Matteo Cargnello, Xiaolin Zheng, and Alfred Spormann
Data science, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies in natural gas
Key speaker Jef Caers
